Description
Road Flares are part of the Starting Gear. They burn for a short period of time and give out a distinct red glow in a small area. In a zero atmosphere environment, a road flare burns for approximately 5 minutes and 5 seconds. Further testing required for different environments/configuration.
Flares can be painted with Spray Paint to change their color, loaded as ammunition on the Flare Gun's internal magazine, and placed inside the Portable Gas Tank's canister slot to ignite combustible mixtures stored inside.
Use
Hold right click with it selected on-hand to light it. They are throwable holding Q. It can generate heat and could be use as a cheap heat source to heat up a room or portable gas tank. Beware as it can ignite combustible mixtures present around it! If this is a concern, consider using a Chem Light instead.
The total heat energy of one road flare used to be 600kJ. However, current testing suggests that road flares no longer release any signficant heat (>5kJ), though may still ignite fuel mixtures in rooms.
