Cognition in Stationeers is measured via Stun. Whenever you take damage in some instances or breath gasses like Nitrous Oxide your Stun percentage which is noted off by this icon 
in your vitals panel will increase.
As your stun increases your HUD will warn you until you fall unconscious

| If Stun is between 1% and 74% Your HUD will warn you that you attained Stun. |
|
| If Stun is between 75% and 99% youll get a Cognition Critical Warning |
